The Shark Rotator Professional (NV500 series), specifically the NV501, is a legend among vacuum owners for its durability. However, even the best machines need wear-and-tear parts replaced every few years to maintain peak performance.

  • Symptoms: Missing attachments, Worn out brush bristles, Torn lower hose, Dirty filters that won’t come clean
  • Tools: none
  • Difficulty: Easy

Because Shark has many similar-looking models, it is easy to buy the wrong part. This guide lists the official part numbers for the NV501 to ensure a perfect fit.

1. Essential Filters

The NV501 uses a standard three-filter system.

  • Foam & Felt Kit (Part #XFF500): Located under the dust cup. These should be washed every 3 months and replaced every 2 years.
  • HEPA Filter (Part #XHF500): The large rectangular filter on the front. This is not washable. Replace it every 12 months for the best allergy protection.

2. Brushes and Rollers

  • Main Brush Roll: The NV501 does not have a user-replaceable belt. If the bristles are worn down or the roller is warped, you must replace the internal brush roll assembly.
  • Pet Power Brush (Part #1173FK): The handheld air-driven tool for upholstery. If yours is lost, this is the standard replacement.

3. Hoses and Plastic Parts

  • Stretch Hose (Part #1229FC): The main hose that connects the handle to the pod.
  • Lower Nozzle Hose: This small, curved hose often tears near the floor. It is part of the nozzle neck and is one of the most common repairs. See our Advanced Hose Fix for details.
  • Dust Cup (Part #1231FC): The clear plastic bin. If the latch is snapped, the whole unit must be replaced to maintain suction.

4. On-Board Tools

  • Crevice Tool (Part #112FFJ): The 8-inch reach tool.
  • Dusting Brush (Part #111FFJ): Soft bristles for furniture.
