Accessibility at VacuumManuals

We believe repair knowledge should be available to everyone. Our guides are specifically designed for easy reading by seniors and anyone who prefers clear, simple instructions.

Why Accessibility Matters to Us

Our primary audience is older adults in the United States who own vacuum cleaners and prefer written guides over fast-paced videos. We understand that:

  • Small text on manufacturer manuals can be frustrating to read
  • Flashy websites with pop-ups and animations can be overwhelming
  • Complex navigation makes finding answers harder than it needs to be
  • Slow-loading pages waste time and data on older connections

That's why we built VacuumManuals from the ground up with accessibility in mind—not as an afterthought, but as a core design principle.

How We Make Reading Easier

Large, Readable Text

All body text is set at a minimum of 18px with high contrast ratios. Our guides are designed for readers who may have difficulty with small print.

High Contrast Design

We use a 'Swiss Minimalist' color scheme with dark text on light backgrounds (and vice versa in dark mode) that exceeds WCAG AA contrast standards.

Fast Loading Pages

Our site loads in under 2 seconds on most connections. We avoid heavy animations and scripts that can slow down older devices.

Keyboard Navigation

Every interactive element on our site can be accessed using a keyboard. Tab through links, press Enter to activate buttons.

Clear Click Targets

Buttons and links have generous padding and spacing, making them easy to tap on touchscreens or click with a mouse.

Screen Reader Friendly

We use semantic HTML and ARIA labels so that screen readers can accurately convey the structure and content of our pages.
