Shark Genius Steam Mop Quick Start Guide

The Shark Genius Steam Mop uses only water (no chemicals) to sanitize hard floors. If you just unboxed yours, here is everything you need to know to get started.

1. What’s in the Box

  • Steam mop body (handle + head)
  • Water tank (removable)
  • 2 washable microfiber pads
  • User manual

2. Assembly (2 Minutes)

  1. Attach the handle to the mop head. It clicks into place.
  2. No tools required. It should snap together easily.

3. Attaching the Pad

The Shark Genius uses a “Grip-Touch” system:

  1. Lay the pad flat on the floor (fuzzy side up).
  2. Place the mop head on top.
  3. Press down firmly. The pad sticks to the bottom via built-in clips.

To remove: Step on the pad tab with your foot and lift the mop away.

4. Filling the Water Tank

  1. Lift the tank from the back of the mop.
  2. Unscrew the cap and fill with water.
  3. Use distilled water to prevent mineral buildup.
  4. Reattach the tank securely.

DO NOT add cleaning solutions, essential oils, or vinegar to the tank.

5. First Use: Heating Up

  1. Plug in the steam mop.
  2. Wait for the indicator light to turn solid (about 30 seconds).
  3. The mop is now ready to use.

6. Steaming Techniques

For Light Cleaning

  • Move the mop at a normal pace.
  • One pass over each area is sufficient.

For Tough, Stuck-On Dirt

  • Hold the mop in place for 5-10 seconds.
  • The concentrated steam loosens the grime.
  • Then wipe away with the mop pad.

Steam Blaster (If Equipped)

Some Genius models have a “Steam Blaster” trigger:

  • Press the trigger for an extra burst of steam.
  • Use on sticky spots or grout lines.
