Do you only use the main floor head? Discover how to use the crevice tool, upholstery brush, and pet hair wand to clean your whole home with less effort.
- Symptoms: Dust in corners, Pet hair on sofas, Difficulty reaching high ceilings
- Tools: none
- Difficulty: Easy
Here are the most useful attachments for your Navigator and exactly how to use them.
1. The 8-Inch Crevice Tool
This is the long, thin plastic tube. It is designed for high-suction in tight spaces.
- Best For: Reaching between sofa cushions, cleaning car seats, and vacuuming the “tracks” of sliding glass doors.
- Senior Tip: Use this tool to clean the edges of your baseboards without having to kneel down. The added length of the wand does the reaching for you.
2. The Dusting Brush
This tool has soft bristles around a rectangular or circular opening.
- Best For: Delicates. Use it on lampshades, window blinds, and even TV screens (be gentle).
- Why use it: The bristles “agitate” the dust so the vacuum can catch it, preventing you from just pushing dust around with a rag.
3. The Wide Upholstery Tool
A flat, wide tool usually with a small strip of red lint-catching fabric.
- Best For: Mattresses, fabric headboards, and large curtains.
- Why use it: It spreads the suction across a wider area, making it faster to “sweep” a sofa than using the main hose.
4. The Pet Power Brush (The “Air Turbine”)
This is a small version of the main floor head with a spinning brush roll inside.
- Best For: Stairs and dog beds.
- Note: This tool is powered by airflow, not electricity. If it stops spinning, it usually means there is hair wrapped around the tiny internal brush. Open the side latch to clean it.
5. The Under-Appliance Wand (Optional Purchase)
If your kitchen floor is hard for you to clean under the fridge or stove, this 30-inch flat tool is a life-saver.
- Best For: Under the refrigerator, dryer, and heavy sofas.
- Compatibility: Most newer Navigators (NV360+) support this tool, but older models may need an adapter.
How to Store Your Tools
One common frustration is that the Navigator only has “on-board” slots for two tools. The Solution: Use a small mesh laundry bag and hang it on the handle of your vacuum. This keeps all your brushes and crevice tools together so you don’t have to go back to the closet mid-clean.

TIP: When using attachments, remember to open the Suction Control Collar halfway if the tools are “sticking” too hard to the fabric. This makes them much easier to move with one hand.
